Amnesty International (AI) is calling on Armenian authorities to investigation voter fraud and intimidation during the February 18 presidential elections.
In a statement issued last week the London-based international human rights watchdog said it had received several reports of harassment including allegations of intimidation and use of force against voters and observers and voiced concern that "in some cases the Armenian authorities have failed to provide adequate protection and conduct prompt and adequate investigation into violations."
The statement goes on to cite specific cases of reported violations and fraud alleged by the officially defeated candidate, Raffi Hovannisian, who is disputing President Serzh Sargsyan's reelection.
