A sit-down strike organized by the Say No to Racism and Nationalism initiative in Taksim Square, Istanbul, was attended by a group of public figures including wife of the killed Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, Rakel Dink, pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) İstanbul deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Sebahat Tuncel, Ufuk Uras, journalists Oral Çalışlar, Hüseyin Hatemi, Hilal Kaplan along with other intellectuals, as reported by Todayszaman.com.
Protesters left carnations in front of a banner which said "this pain belongs to all of us".
Zişan Tokaç, who made a statement on behalf of the protesting group at 19:15, said Armenians were sent to exile in places where they could not survive, recounting atrocities committed at that time.
