Kocharyan Factor: Heritage sees ex-president behind inter-party HQ; ANC can=?UTF-8?B?4oCZ?=t see him anymore

Thursday shifted the focus of the campaigns conducted by political forces ahead of next month's parliamentary elections from addressing potential voters to trading accusations as all major players exchanged acrimonious statements against each other.

The opposition Heritage party appeared to be the first to pull the trigger by explicitly withdrawing from the emerging inter-party effort that it initiated together with the main opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) bloc, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) earlier this month to ensure a proper conduct of the May 6 vote. In doing so, the party led by independent Armenia's first foreign minister Raffi Hovannisian pointed an accusatory finger at the PAP, seeing ex-president Robert Kocharyan's presence behind this latest consolidation effort. It claimed the headquarters were working towards the ex-president's political comeback.
