During the 20 years of membership in the United Nations being marked in Armenia these days Armenia has tried to solve three main issues – ensure its own security, provide its socio-economic development and build a democratic country that will spread its influence in the region, according to a Foreign Ministry representative.
"The United Nations is the world's largest international organization that embraces 193 countries and for us to make our voice heard in the entire world it was vital not only to be represented in the UN, but also to work hard there," said Lilit Tutkhalyan, an advisor at the International Organizations Department of the Foreign Affairs of Armenia, who spoke at a conference organized by the Young Diplomats Club NGO and the International Academy of Education March 5 to mark the 20th anniversary of Armenia's accession to the UN.
