Most buildings under construction not accessible to the disabled - Ombudsman

The Human Rights Defender’s Office has published a new report on the 2011 developments in the urban development sector.

In the chapter identifying the shortcoming and problems observed at the Ministry of Urban Developments last year, Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan notes that most buildings under construction ensure no access for individuals with disabilities. He also voices concern that different organizations licensed by the Ministry issued different conclusions on the emergency level of the same building.

• The Ministry has not carried out a proper control over the assurance of project documents’ compliance with the urban development norms.
