US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is set to visit Turkey on April 1 to attend the Friends of Syria summit, Victoria Nuland, a spokesperson for the Department of State, has said.
Speaking at a daily press briefing on Thursday, Nuland noted that the first meeting held in Tunisia had laid out a very clear agenda highlighting the importance of ending the violence, getting humanitarian going and starting a political process, issues which she said were also supported by a six point peace deal proposed by a former UN secretary general and a UN-Arab League joint envoy, Kofi Anan.
“So we look forward to the agenda that the Turkish Government will establish to deepen and broaden the consensus about the way forward, and we expect that the UN will also be represented in those meetings,” she said.
