Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan honored today several student athlets who won awards at the 26th World Student Games held in Shenzhen, China.
According to the Ministry’s Public Information Department, young weightlifter and a student of Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture, Aghasi Aghasyan, demonstrated a brilliant performance, winning Armenia’s first ever gold medal in university competitions.
Hayk Hakobyan, another Armenian weightlifter, was awarded a bronze medal after winning the third place.
Minister Ashotyan, who is also the president of the Armenian Student Sport Federation, gave money awards to three young sportsmen – Aghasi Aghayan, Hayk Hakobyan and Zaven Andreasyan, – and two coaches – Yervand Kirakosyan and Pashik Alaverdyan.
