Obama not to say genocide - Turkish ambassador

US President Barack Obama is not going to use the term “genocide” in his annual April 24 address, the Turkish Ambassador to US has said.

Namik Tan told a news conference in Washington that though he cannot predict what exactly the president is going to say, Turkey does not expect him to utter the word.

“We expect Obama to be reasonable enough not to use the term ‘genocide’,” he said.

Asked whether the Turkish Embassy receives any threats ahead of the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, he said: “The Armenian community has representatives who are far from being reasonable. We take relevant measures against the unacceptable counteraction we meet.”
