“Let us Sleep!=?UTF-8?B?4oCd?=: Parents in Yerevan criticize municipality over kindergarten pilot program

An attempt by Yerevan authorities to settle traffic problems in the central streets of the city by setting a deadline beyond which entry to kindergartens is prohibited has angered quite a few parents and sparked demands for the novelty to be scrapped.

Since this Monday parents, especially working mums and dads, have had to make abrupt changes in their daily schedules – from making children get up earlier than usual to taking a taxi in order to get to the kindergarten on time, which is 8:30 a.m. by the new standard.

On verbal orders from Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan, a pilot program is on in 20 kindergartens of Yerevan from April 18 to May 18, aiming to ease constantly congested traffic in the central streets of Yerevan during the morning hours.  Read more... (378 words)
