The Armenian-Romanian collaboration in the education sector rests on the similarity of our civilizations, not geopolitical and economic interests, the Armenian minister of education has said.
Armen Ashotyan made the statement in Bucharest at a news conference with his Romanian counterpart Daniel Funeriu. Ashotyan was particularly asked to comment on Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocjaryan’s response to the Romanian leader’s recent statement in Baku.
During a visit to Azerbaijan, Romanian President Traian Basescu spoke about the Nagorno Karabakh, stressing the importance of the territorial integrity principle in settling the conflict.
Armenian Deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan later criticized the statement.
“I wouldn’t like any EU country leader to voice such partial and destructive statement,” he said.
