Teach-in is road to blind alley, says State University chief

The Yerevan State University's rector has criticized the Monday teach-in protests held by students of different universities.
Speaking to Tert.am, Prof. Aram Simonyan described the student boycotts as a road leading to a blind alley. "That violates around 20,000 students' right to receive education," he said, noting that few of their students have taken part in the Monday protest.
"It was on our territory, but most were people from outside," Simonyana added.
"I am hopeful and confident that our students are conscious enough not to yield to such appeals for a teach-in," he said, adding that boycotting classes offers no way for resolving political matters.
Simonyan denied earlier allegations that the protesting students have linked today's boycott with the 1988 teach-ins that marked the beginning of the Armenians' national liberation movement for Nagorno-Karabakh.
"The national liberation movement has nothing to do with the calls for today's teach-in," he explained.
