Parliament speaker says change of prime minister not discussed yet

No change of the prime minister is being discussed by the Armenian authorities yet, Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan told media on Wednesday.

The senior member of the ruling Republican Party made the comment after meeting with former Yerevan mayor Karen Karapetyan, who has been tipped by the media to become a successor of current head of the government Tigran Sargsyan.

"I met with Mr. Karapetyan. We are in very warm relations. We didn't discuss any political issues," said Abrahamyan.

The top legislator also said, "We have repeatedly spoken about changes in all spheres, including the government, but it does not mean that the matter concerns the replacement of the current prime minister."
