Serj Tankian on Facebook: “Peaceful civic disobedience in Armenia has borne fruit=?UTF-8?B?4oCd?=

System of a Down front man Serj Tankian, responding to the actions of the Yerevan Police to use force against and to detain hundreds of demonstrators in Yerevan protesting a recently approved electricity rate hike, used his Facebook page to call for "monopolistic foreign owned utility companies should be made a state asset."

Referencing an Asbarez article on the protest, Tankian says such public action proves that Armenia's civic society is burgeoning.

The post has so far garnered 1,800 likes.
