A spokesman for Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has denied reports that a vehicle from the presidential cortege was involved in an alleged shooting incident earlier this week.
The Armenian Police said today a 49-year-old resident of Echmiadzin had been arrested for allegedly shooting in the direction of a Niva car in Yerevan on November 21. A local paper alleged the car belonged to the presidential security service and was part of a cortege going to the airport Wednesday night.
"There was no incident with the participation of a state security service car that would be used for protection of the head of state," presidential spokesman Armen Arzumanyan told News.am on Friday.
