The visit to Baku by the leader of the opposition Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian and the scandal caused by his attempt to speak at the Congress of Asian Political Parties was regarded by some in Armenia as mostly a pre-election stunt. Opinions have been voiced through online social networking sites and media that before the presidential election Hovannisian has tried to "score points" and become "a hero".
Certainly, there was some pre-election aspect in Hovannisian's visit, especially considering the fact that this politician has always tried to come up with fresh and original steps. But in the skeptical Armenian reality that is dismissive of anything new such steps more often than not are laughed at and ridiculed.
