Armen Martirosyan, Vice-Chairman of the Heritage party, welcomes any step to root out corruption in Armenia."The government's steps are not in fact combating corruption. Rather, they are prerequisites for rooting out corruption or a mere PR step on the threshold of presidential election," Martirosyan told journalists on Wednesday.Armenia's authorities have means at their disposal to implement the Heritage party's proposals to essentially reduce corruption.Centralized power is the major cause of system corruption. In this context, Martirosyan pointed out the necessity for a supervising body that would be composed of members of opposition political forces and NGOs.If Armenia's authorities accept the Heritage party's proposals, they can combine efforts in combating corruption.
