Heritage may accept Prosperous Armenia=?UTF-8?B?4oCZ?=s invitation

Naira Zohrabyan, Secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) parliamentary group, has invited the Heritage party, opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) and Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) to participate in political discussions scheduled for next Monday.The meeting is to discuss a switch-over from the semi-presidential system to a parliamentary one and to the proportional representation system in Armenia.In response to Tert.am's question as to whether the Heritage party will accept the invitation, Party Vice-Chairman Armen Martirosyan said: "I will answer her [Mrs Zohrabyan]."Styopa Safaryan, Political Secretary of the Heritage party, recalled the statements by Mr Martirosyan and Ruben Hakobyan (Head of the Heritage parliamentary group) that the party has for years been supportive of the idea of parliamentary system and welcomes the PAP's proposal.He also noted that the party can accept the invitation despite the fact that it s leader Raffi Hovhannisyan intends to run for presidency.On October 1, even before the PAP made its statement, the Heritage party leader, announced his intention to run for presidency and expressed his support to the parliamentary system.   Read more...
