Biggest State Budget Not a Guarantee of Better Living Conditions

The discussions of Armenia's biggest budget to date – $2.5 billion — made it clear that a bigger state budget is yet not a guarantee of better life for the country's citizens. The government is planning to stop the rapid economic decline by adding to its already precariously big foreign debt, which economists say is "reaching the red line".

A month ago Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said: "We have to be able to reduce poverty, the economic share of which today makes 30 percent, and it's a dangerous indicator for us."

Meanwhile, the new budget doesn't look promising in that perspective.
