Mayor of Gyumri Samvel Balasanyan received on Friday a delegation led by Russian Consul General Vassily Korchmar.
Greeting the guests, the mayor highlighted the importance of deepening ties between Gyumri and other cities of Russia and promised to do everything within his power to promote investments in Armenia's second largest city.
The guests congratulated Balasanyan on being elected a mayor, wishing him fruitful work during his tenure. The sides also discussed bilateral issues, including the Russian proposal to build a big sports complex in Gyumri. At the end, they agreed to organize more frequent meetings and discussions in such format.
According to a press release by the Gyumri City Hall, the delegation comprised Oleg Smirnov, the commander of a Russian military base stationed in Gyumri, and Yuri Aysin, the commander of the Russian border troops in Armenia.
