Students from Armenia have earned one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at a prestigious international Olympiad in astronomy that ended in South Korea this week.
The Olympiad held among 14-18-year-olds representing about three dozen countries was held in the city of Gwangju on October 16-24.
Armenia was represented by six students at the competitions.
According to Olymp.am, the gold medal winner Gevorg Martirosyan and two bronze medalists Vardges Mambreyan and Siranush Babakhanova represent Yerevan's Physics-Mathematics School. The silver medalist, Arsen Aslanyan, is from the State Engineering University of Armenia-affiliated high school.
"Our students have put up a brilliant performance… A wonderful result!" wrote Armenian Education Minister Armen Ashotyan on his Facebook account sharing the good news from South Korea on Wednesday.
