Armenia and the European Union have taken another step towards closer relations after initialing an agreement that will ease visa requirements for Armenian citizens visiting EU-member countries.
The agreement on visa regime facilitation was initialed in Brussels on Thursday by the head of the European Commission's Directorate General for Home Affairs, Stefano Manservisi, and Avet Adonts, the Armenian ambassador to the EU. They also initialed another agreement about readmission which obligates Armenia to receive without formal proceedings its citizens who stay in EU countries as illegal immigrants. Since February 2012 three rounds of negotiations between the EU and Armenia preceded the initialing of these agreements.
