The spokesperson of the Prosperous Armenia party has ruled out the possibility of supporting a Republican Party representative in the September local self-government polls.
As he told reporters on Saturday, the party has no arrangement with the ruling political force despite the latter's promise to endorse Samvel Balasanyan, a PAP member.
"The PAP can back only individuals with good governance skills and high-quality municipal administration potentials," he said.
Asked whether it is possible that the Republican may not perceive Balasanyan as a Prosperous Armenian member, he said, "I am a spokesperson for the PAP and speak of our beliefs. Samvel Balasanyan is a member of the Prosperous Armenia party," he added.
Urikhanyan said their proposals are the best in terms of both programs and human resources.
"I am hopeful the major part of the society will realize in the course of time that the plans, approaches, solutions and human resources proposed by Prosperous Armenia have a relative advantage. The PAP resources, no matter whether a candidate running for the local self-government and a higher office, are the best," he noted.
Urkikhanhyan said that candidates' number, which is 57, is not small, adding that "quality is preferable to quantity".
Prosperous Armenia presently has 71 community governors in different regions.
As for next year's presidential election, Uirkhanyan said they do not yet have a decision on proposing a united candidate.
Asked to comment on second President Robert Kocharyan's possible return, the PAP spokesperson said such plan would be realistic only in case the population wishes that.
"It would be realistic if the society answered [the question] about Kocharyan's return because they are supposed to bring him [to power]," he explained.
