The Communist Party of Armenia is not a party of one person to allow its chief to decide independently whether or not to run for president in 2013, the communist leader has said.
Speaking to Tert.am, Ruben Tovmasyan explained that the party is to consider the issue at a central committee meeting after the nomination of candidates begins. According to him, the party's financial and human resources will be taken into consideration before a decision is made.
"We have to weigh all pros and cons to be able to pass a decision," he said.
The Communist Party received less than 1% of votes in the May 6 parliamentary polls.
The politician does not think the upcoming local self-government elections in several regions of Armenia will be quite trustworthy.
"We are running ahead, being aware that there will be election riggings and chaos," he noted.
However, the party has not taken an absolutely passive stance on the local elections. It has nominated a candidate for the Echmiadzin city's Aldermen's Council, and two more members for the community governors of the Batikyan village [the incumbent village governor] and the Martuni city.
