Armenian National Congress reps hold protest in Yerevan

Active members of the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) are holding a protest in front of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia.They demand the release of four ANC members – David Kiramijyan, Sargis Gevorgyan, Artak Karapetyan and Tigran Arakelyan."On August 9, 2011, the young men were illegally detained by police, tortured and are now jailed on charges trumped up by the Prosecution," read the leaflets distributed by the protestors.Lyudmila Sargsyan, an MP of the ANC, told Tert.am that the protestors are struggling for the young men to be released. "The more people take part in the pickets, the stronger impact it will have," she said.Nikol Pashinyan, an MP of the ANC, and Vahagn Khachatryan, ex-mayor of Yerevan, were among the protestors.   Read more...
