TV Cleanup: Calls for “purer=?UTF-8?B?4oCdIA==?=television resume in Armenia

Discussions about the quality and purity of television production, in particular soap operas and comedy shows that are popular among viewers, have gained new momentum in Armenia amid concerns that possible legislative interference will result in more restrictions of free speech. This time those concerned with the quality of television have managed to attract the president's attention.

Last week a group of intellectuals and representatives of a number of organizations sent a letter to President Serzh Sargsyan, expressing their concern over the "aggressive and anti-social" TV serials and entertaining programs that they say romanticize criminal behavior and potentially will increase crime in society.
