Republican MP: Pashinyan can=?UTF-8?B?4oCZ?=t refuse to be deputy head of Ethics Committee

David Harutyunyan, the Republican MP heading the National Assembly's Ethics Committee, sees no way for opposition lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan to resign from his position of the body's deputy chairman to which he was appointed by law.

Pashinyan, who represents the Armenian National Congress (ANC), released a statement earlier on Tuesday describing his appointment to the post by Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan as illegal. Therefore, he said, he refused to accept it.

"It does not depend on the wishes of an individual, it derives from the law. I am sure Nikol Pashinyan's explanation of the law is incorrect," Harutyunyan said in an interview with News.am.
