A cache containing different kinds of ammunition has been found on top of a central Yerevan building that was in the epicenter of pitched street battles in the post-election period four years ago.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations said they were alerted to the find on the roof of a residential building located in Paronyan Street on Tuesday morning. A special group of rescuers and paramedics was dispatched to the scene. The National Security Service was also informed about the discovery.
The police said the cache was found by construction workers on the building. All the ammunition has reportedly been confiscated and sent for expertise. Nothing is yet reported on the possible link between the cache and the fierce clashes of March 1, 2008 when 10 people were killed in the streets of Yerevan.
