Ruben Hayrapetyan, a member of parliament with the ruling Republican Party faction and chief of the Armenian Football Federation, has strongly denied any connection to a weekend beating at a restaurant run by his extended family that resulted in three military doctors suffering grave injuries.
Vahe Avetyan, Artak Bayadyan and Garik Soghomonyan, all of whom are medical professionals at a hospital run by the Armenian Defense Ministry, reportedly had a dress code argument with a waiter at the Harsnakar restaurant in Yerevan's northern suburb resulting in a fight with the involvement of the facility's security personnel. The three men suffered heavy injuries in what they said was a case of brutal beating. Doctors treating Avetyan for extreme brain injuries said on Tuesday his condition remained critical. The condition of the two other men is described as stable.
