A Ministry of Agriculture representative says that 2012 is expected to be a bountiful year for farmers, as some crops – strawberries, cherries – have already proved. Earlier bad weather did not have the devastating effect that has occurred in previous seasons.
"The unfavorable weather was 'episodic' and it did not affect the whole republic. For example, in case of apricot we will have some loss in particular regions, where even there might be no apricot crops at all. However, this year we will have more apricot yield than last year throughout the country," says Gevorg Harutyunyan, Officer in Charge of Department of Plant Cultivation and Plant Protection at the Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia.
