Armenia ranks 102nd (total score 72.2) in the 2012 Failed States Index, but has the best indicators in the region.
Azerbaijan (total score 79.8), Georgia (84.8) and Turkey (76.6) rank 68th, 51st and 85th, respectively, in the latest review by the Fund for Peace.
The study highlights global political, economic and social pressures experienced by states. The FSI, in particular, ranks 178 countries using 12 social, economic, and political indicators of pressure on the state, along with over 100 sub-indicators.
Each indicator is rated on a scale of 1-10, based on the analysis of millions of publicly available documents, other quantitative data, and assessments by analysts. A high score indicates high pressure on the state, and therefore a higher risk of instability.
