Turkey hosts Armenian Genocide conference

Adiyaman University recently hosted a new conference devoted to the Armenian Genocide.

Speaking at the event, Bekir Tank, a lecturer at the University’s History Department, reiterated the Turkey’s stance on the issue. He claimed that the Armenians and Turks co-existed peacefully until 1915, adding that the hostilities began after the Armenian forces joint the Russians to fight against the Ottoman Empire.

“Both sides have to negotiate without preconditions. The Armenians have to pour out their grief and tears in Ankara, not in their capital, Yerevan,” he said, calling for other countries sincere efforts and support to achieve the solution of the existing problems.

The conference was organized by the University’s Department of International Relations.
