Russia marks today the Day of Spring and Labor – May 1st.
About 100,000 people turn out as part of a festive demonstration, organized by trade unions and the United Russia party.
The country’s President Dmitry Medvedev takes part in it, as well – rendering the event unique, as previously heads of state never participated in mass demonstrations alongside other demonstrators, the Russian media reported.
The United Russia party has announced plans to lead a May Day parade. The marchers include party leaders and functionaries, lawmakers, activists of the All-Russian People’s Front, members of the party’s youth league and thousands of supporters.
