Armenia’s fourth parliament, which is finishing its term on May 6, has around 400 draft laws, with half not yet being included in the sessions’ agenda.
In response to Tert.am’s request about those bills and their future, the Public Relations Department of the National Assembly gave a detailed explanation about the procedures of considering the incomplete legal initiatives.
It particularly said that the draft laws which passed the first and second readings are, within seven days after the first session, submitted to the speaker, with an enclosed document specifying the names of the authors and the head committees. Upon receiving the drafts, the speaker has four days to send them to corresponding standing committees, which in turn, are expected to submit their conclusions within a 3-day period. The parliament is then given seven days to submit the conclusions and the draft laws to the lawmakers.
