Mongolia=?UTF-8?B?4oCZ?=s ex-president arrested over corruption

Anti-corruption investigators have arrested Mongolia’s former president, seizing him in a dawn raid after he refused to answer questions about corruption, The Associated Press reported.

Uniformed and plainclothes police stormed a house Friday morning where Enkhbayar Nambar had fled the night before, after his bodyguards fended off anti-corruption agents trying to arrest the former president.

The head of the anti-corruption agency, E. Ambarat, was quoted as saying that Enkhbayar is accused of resisting arrest and is under investigation for corruption. Though the investigator did not elaborate, reports said the corruption was tied to the illegal privatization of a hotel.

Enkhbayar was prime minister and then president for most of the past decade until he was defeated in 2009.
