While Azerbaijan is gradually increasing its arms supplies, the Iranian authorities have fears that such measure will be targeted against their country, Arsen Asatryan, an expert in Azerbaijani studies, has said.
“Certain political forces are attempting to involve Azerbaijan in military processes, but the country is not yet willing to be involved,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
Nver Davtyan, an Iranian studies specialist also attending the news conference, expressed doubts over Azerbaijan’s statements on the impossibility of using its territory against Iran.
“The military equipment Azerbaijan purchases from Israel is not a deal subject to a one-day contract. That means Iran’s concerns are to the point. In case of launching a war, Israel will have to consider how to overcome such a long distance to reach Iran and bomb the country and then go back,” he said.
