Politician Hmayak Hovhannisyan, who recently proposed the declaration on creating a joint headquarters to monitor the parliamentary election, says he has not received any written notice by the opposition Heritage party, confirming its intention to pull out of the initiative.
The declaration was signed by the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), the Prosperous Armenia party (PAP) and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D).
Speaking to RFE/RL on Thursday, the head of the Heritage party faction in parliament, Stepan Safaryan, said they are determined to work independently towards ensuring a free and fair election and consequently not inclined to return to that format.
Hovhannisyan had earlier said that Heritage’s presence in the four parties’ format would be maintained unless the party withdraws its signature from the document.
