Despite the current tension in France-Turkey relations, French President Nicolas Sarkozy may be invited to Istanbul to attend the second Friends of Syria summit, the Turkish leader has said.
According to the Azerbaijani news agency 1news.az, Abdullah Gul made the statement on his way back from Tunisia.
“We must not mix our bilateral relations with an international conference,” he said.
After the summit in Istanbul, the Friends of Syria group is expected to meet in Syria for its third conference.
