The spokesperson of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Edward Sharmazanov, has responded to the Turkish deputy prime minister’s recent allegations that Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) is an occupied land.
Speaking in Baku earlier today, Bekir Bosdag characterized Nagorno-Karabakh as an illegally occupied Turkish territory. He said the normalization of the Turkey-Armenia ties will be out of the question unless the Armenia withdraws its troops from the country.
It comes after Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at the ruling Republican Party’s congress that Artsakh has been and will continue to remain an Armenian land.
Responding to the Turkish official, Sharmazanov said that not only Artsakh but also the present-day Turkish state bears no historical relationship with ethnic Turkish tribes.
