Citing complaints from residents about disturbance of the public peace police workers late last night dismantled the tent of green activists campaigning for the halt of construction in a Yerevan park.
Dozens of young conservationists have been on a round-the-clock sit-in in the park off Yerevan's central Mashtots Boulevard since Tuesday in the latest push to demand an end to construction in the green zone that they consider illegal.
They had issued an ultimatum on the Yerevan authorities giving them until Friday to order the dismantling of the kiosks. Otherwise, the activists threatened they would dismantle the kiosks themselves.
