March 13 marks the 115th birth anniversary of Armenian poet, writer and public activist Yegishe Charents.
The great poet’s home-museum is going to host different jubilee events, inviting students, writers, intellectuals or simply lovers of Charents’ art.
A procession will head towards the poet’s memorial to announce the opening of the Charents year.
An exhibition of portrait series will open at the home-museum later in the day.
The jubilee events will be attended by President Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan.
“Read Charents!” – such was translator Samvel Mkrtchyan’s response to Tert.am’s request to reevaluate the literary heritage of one of the best 20th century poets.
