Heritage rep. questions voter lists

Stepan Safaryan, the leader of the opposition Heritage party faction in parliament, is going to apply to the US Embassy in Yerevan and the General Prosecutors Office to argue Armenia’s voting age population records unveiled yesterday the Police.

Speaking to Tert.am, Safaryan said that he considers the numbers represented on the voter lists an obvious exaggeration.

He referred to US Ambassador John Haffern’s latest address calling on the population to report any violation that they observe in the pre-election period and on the voting day.

“I will submit those data personally, on my own behalf,” he said.

Safaryan argues that the total number of voters in the 41 constituencies across Armenia cannot be “between 2.5-2.6 million”, as the official website of the police suggests.
