Hayatsk: Singers to join Republican Party

After registering journalists in its list of candidates ahead of the parliamentary polls, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has now started enrolling representatives of show business, the paper has learned.

Citing its sources, it says a couple of singers are expected to join the party at the end of this week.

“But they might as well be among the candidates likely to be elected without even becoming a member,” it comments further.

Pop singer Shushan Petrosyan ranks the first on the list, the paper says, adding that the singer’s aunt, writer and publicist Alvard Petrosyan, who represents the opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D) faction in parliament, is not going to be elected this time.
