Armenian expert on Russia presidential election

le=”text-align: justify; “>The recent presidential election in Russia showed Vladimir Putin’s return was not so positively welcomed by the people, Richard Giragosian, Head of the Regional Studies Center (RSC), told journalists on Monday.

With respect to the election process, Giragosian noted that they revealed a new method of election rigging. Like in the post-Soviet times, ballot-stuffing and false monitoring were the practice. One more novelty was 90,000 cameras. Not all of them operated properly, and the operating ones did not give a clear picture, the expert said.

Interestingly, Russia’s political opposition forces are mostly opposing Vladimir Putin. However, the opposition is of no political importance. Moreover, the opposition forces held more rallies last December than now, which suggests that Vladimir Putin is an acceptable figure for both the international community and Russia’s society, Giragosian said.
