Javakhk Diaspora in Russia has released a statement claiming that "chauvinistic totalitarianism is ruling in Georgia" and warning about the "true state of affairs in Samtskhe-Javakheti".
"Ever since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Georgian authorities have led an open, insolent nationalistic policy against Armenians of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Georgia in general. If during Gamsakhurdia's presidency national-liberation movements mutated into neo-fascism, during Shevarndadze's tenure it transformed into an open state national-democracy; now Mikheil Saakashivili's administration, using his predecessor's experience and with the support of its neighbors and western patrons, has continued, refined and established chauvinistic totalitarianism in the region," the statement reads.
