This time last year eggs did a disappearing act from shops and supermarkets, just in time to nearly ruin holiday plans for housewives preparing tables and causing prices to climb ridiculously high. Armenia turned to Iran for an emergency import of (pricey) eggs to assure enough product in homes where an estimated three dozen eggs per household are used as part of holiday cooking.
With the great egg crisis of 2010 in mind, consumer market researchers give no indications that shortages of such products as eggs or poultry will be observed in Armenia during the coming winter holidays.
Market specialists also exclude the kind of egg price fluctuations that were observed during 2010.
