Armenian Parliament gets new speaker

Armenia’s Parliament elected Samvel Nikoyan Parliament speaker Dec. 6.

Chairman of the ad hoc returning board Gagik Melikyan reported that 102 of the MPs voted for Samvel Nikoyan, and four for Larisa Alaverdyan, a Heritage part member.

After being elected, Samvel Nikoyan thanked all the parliamentary forces, particularly the Heritage parliamentary group, which nominated its candidate.

“This position is great honor and responsibility for me. I will do my utmost to put this idea of the Parliament’s activities into practice,” he said.
