Ombudsman seeks broker's role between authorities and opposition

Armenian Ombdusman Karen Andreasyan is offering his role as a broker between the authorities and the opposition in the efforts to solve the March 2008 tragic events.

The human rights defender said that in the past too various foreign diplomats and international organizations had sought to be brokers and observers in the deal, but added that the lack of tolerance and trust frustrated their efforts.

“Highly praising foreign experts and organizations for their efforts, I regret to note that it’s always foreigners that give us instructions and judge our efforts. I am confident that we have internal potential to overcome the tragic developments independently,” he said.
Andreasyan added that he had several advantages for the mission as an ombudsman.
