Armenia’s Ombudsman has issued his first comments about the situation in Armenia, focusing mainly on social issues.
In a statement published on the website of Armenia’s Human Rights Office, Karen Andreasyan said that a significant part of the population is grappling with social problems.
“I decided to address social rights first as I am sure that the people cannot become members of active civil society and protect their rights, if they don’t have descent living conditions,” said he.
Further, Andreasyan said there is no methodology that can prove that the minimum salary in Armenia (32,500 drams – around $85) is calculated based on the minimum consumer basket.
