NATO is designing new mechanisms for Georgia that will render the country as a stronger candidate for the NATO membership, a senior US official has said.
Speaking at a meeting of foreign minister of NATO member states held in Berlin, the US Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon said that he could not however mention any exact date as to when Georgia will attain NATO membership.
“… I cannot mention any concrete date for entry into NATO, but I can say that the foreign ministers once again confirmed that they assume the obligation to support Georgia to enter NATO,” Philip Gordon said.
“The alliance is working on an annual project and mechanisms for Georgia that must render Georgia as a stronger candidate,” he added.
