Armenia’s second president, Robert Kocharyan, could not have held a meeting yesterday as he is currently out of the country, his spokesman has said.
In an interview with Tert.am, Victor Soghomyan denied media reports that Kocharyan held an ad hoc meeting on Friday.
“Robert Kocharyan is not in town. He is on a private visit abroad,” Soghomonyan said.
It comes after Haykakan Zhamank published today a report that Kocharyan held an ad hoc working discussion in his office yesterday evening.
“The meeting was devoted to the March 2008 events,” the newspaper said in its Saturday issue. It further claimed that the discussion was attended by a former defense minister, Michael Harutyunyan, who currently serves as a military inspector at the president’s office, and several other people who reportedly followed president Kocharyan’s instructions on March 1, 2008.
